Is there a Test for the MAF sensor?

Is my only option to change this thing out to see if its indeed my problem?

Perhaps unplugging it and then road testing will isolate your problem. Unplugging it will cause the CEL to come on and I would think that the ECM would go into some kind of limp-home mode and stop reading inputs from the MAF (essentially by-passing it).

Re: Is there a Test for the MAF sensor?

I did just that. At first the car ran very rich (maybe 1-2 minutes) Wow what a mean loopy idle like a hot cam. I raced the engine and it began to get the correct fuel mixture. Still this thing really sounds liked its really built up. Maybe I should put a clip on here and let you guys hear it and tell me what you think.

This is not the original engine, this engine was part of the package when I bought the car. Could it have possibly been rebuilt and I just need to get a new prom. I could be totally off base here but just a guess.

Basically it sputters when you put it under load. You stall it or cut it off then crank it back up and it runs for a little while like nothing happened.

I am taking it to a hot rod shop next week where they are use to trouble shooting unique situations, wiring and the like.

Id like to know what you all think though.

It has given me a code 23, ive changed the fuel pump, ignition control module, and fuel filter. The MAT sensor is not pluged in. I cant find where it is suppose to plug
