TPI EGR solenoid question??

Hi there...

I need some help on my 87 305 TPI engine..It is a Chevrolet Camaro...

I need to replace my EGR vacuum solenoid, but that is impossible since that part is no longer available any place.

I was thinking of something like this:

Change wiring connector to EGR wiring connector for Camaro 91-96models.
From this:

To this:

The second connector (blue) is for 87 to 92 camaro TPI systems.
I have the green one like the first picture.

My question is: If i replace the pigtail connector and buy a new solenoid like this:

Will that work on my TPI system?...I can modify that bracket to fit.
But I was just curious if the EGR system will work with this, because personally myself I think it is just basically a simple vacuum switch that get's "ground" signals from the ECM that turns the switch ON and OFF with correct pulses. But that is controlled by the ECM.

Would this work out for me???

Check out tpiparts.net they have wiring pigtails and may have the one you need. I have got alot of stuff through them. Even sent my wiring harness to them to repair a broken wire and replace several bad connectors.

They have the pigtail connector yes...But I think you misunderstood me a little. I need the EGR vacuum switch..EGR solenoid as it is called...And that parts is no longer available any place...So I need to modify something.

It is only a solenoid (elec operated valve ) that has power going to it full time and is turned on by going to ground at the ECM.
No reason for it not to work if wired correctly

A thread is newer to old if you ask me. I am sorry I didn't write what I went up with. I bought the pigtail connector and a newer solenoid like mentioned on the thread earlier and the EGR system worked OK on my Camaro if I am not wrong. I went with code 32 a couple of times but not every time I took the car for a spin. Now I have rebuilt the engine and done some street performance to the engine so I no longer have EGR and AIR system..
