Re: Just bought GTA, runs and drives fine, but no power and low shifting

Got brand new wires and put in the injectors too. Not much fun to do, but it was easy. But the only problem remaining is the ANNOYING early shifting. I've adjusted the TV cable 100 times it seems, so i know that is not it anymore. I'm going to buy a new accelerator cable tomorrow and put it in. If not, I'll look for a new TB as the spring on it is loose. If thats not it......well, I'll be getting a different car. I'm super bored with not being able to have any fun with my new car.

Unreal Kev, I wonder what the heck is going on!?

Your trans felt good when it did shift, so I doubt the
problem lies there. If it is the throttle cable or the TB,
there has got to be a way to at least test those parts.

but, I have no idea how, haha!

LOL!!! I might need your help this time with a TB swap. I want to check out a cable at Autozone and see how much play/slack a brand new cable has. You and Brian saw how much slack this bastard has. I can have it attached to the TB and wear it like a belt all while I'm driving the car. LOL!!! It sucks bro.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of swapping out yours for a test. I'm going to meet up with Brian this coming Saturday morning. I'll pick you up on the way.

I wonder if the actual throttle valve in the trans itself is sticking. The TV cable was damaged for a long time before you got the car it may have damaged the actual valve in the tranny. I believe the Trans Go shift kit comes with a new one. And I don't think they are that hard to put in.

Any tranny experts out there? The car is shifting about 4800 rpm instead of the 5500 rpm it is supposed to shift at.

Kevin can you manually shift the car from 1st to 2nd at 5500 rpm?

Re: Just bought GTA, runs and drives fine, but no power and low shifting

I dunno why, but when stock the GTA used to shift at 3000 rpm. Do you have an aftermarket shift kit and I missed the post?

I used to shift mine manually at the track, although it wouldn't really make much power over 4000.

I know if I had to drive a stock 350 tpi today, it would make me cry.

Re: Just bought GTA, runs and drives fine, but no power and low shifting

When my car was supercharged, the valves in the transmission were changed so that it would shift around 6000rpm. Without the blower, my 1-2 occurs at about 4500 rpm. Rest of the shiftpoints are fine. I just manually shift 1-2 when playing around or at the track...doesn't bother me too much.

HAHA!!! No. It's good enough for now tho, so I'm not going to worry about it. There is an annoying humming sound and code 44 that is taking my attention right now.

I would take the belt off the front of the engine and start it and see if the humming goes away and if it does I would try and find the accessory that is causeing the humming .

Re: Just bought GTA, runs and drives fine, but no power and low shifting

The humming is from the compressor. I made a post on it but have yet to get a response. I can live with it now that I know what it is. I figured it out because when I drive with the windows down late at night after work, the annoying humming isn't there. So I put 2 and 2 together and luckily came up with 4. LOL!!!

So, are you satisfied with the output of the car when us three finally got
the code 33, 34, & 44 to clear and stay gone? I thought the performance
was night and day on the drive back home.

Either way, I had a blast on Saturday with you & Burnout!

Oh hell yeah. But at the same time, I won't be completely satisfied until the car is running that good all the time, everytime I drive it. I put the new relays in and haven't drove it yet for fear that problem will be back. I'll drive it to work here real soon with my fingers crossed.

It was fun. We all need to roll up to the Pavs one sat night and chillax. Let me know if you want my help with your fender. I would love to help get that bastard straight.

For sure! Id love to roll with that sexy GTA and Brian's insane IROC!
I need to motivate myself on that fender work, autobody stuff doesnt
interest me like EFI engines do!

Well, the only way to know if the 33 or 44 is intermittent is to drive it
around and pray. At least If it does happen again, we know where to
look!

Glad to hear you guys got it now for the compressor it could be low of oil or the clutch coil may be going bad or the bearing for the pulley making noise under load .
