Re: How to 13.5 Second 305 tpi

do a search for my screen name. I was running 13.70 @101mph with a crummy 2.2 60ft with a 3.23 gear and a 5speed. All I had was a fully ported stock intake, no siamese work. Mildly ported vette aluminum heads, 214/224 flat tappet cam, edelbrock shorty headers and cat back. STOCK TUNE.

With lower gears and a tune the car would have been low 13s I'm sure of it.

You could always just run it on one of those newfangled 1,000' tracks.

What are the current numbers?

Re: How to 13.5 Second 305 tpi

Option 1:
NOS kit low dosage.

Option 2:
Heads + Cam is all you are missing.

Cheap way:
Pocket port your heads and get a 3-5 angle valve job with the valves back cut 30 degrees.
1.6 rockers on your stock cam might get you close after head work. Otherwise you'll need hmm...305 may restrict you to under .500 lift cam with 1.94 intake valve or you'll smash the intake valve into the bore. Although some people on the board have made it work, you'll have to check for clearance.
-3.73 gears in the rear
-SLICKS!
-You still may need NOS

Cut weight, lots of weight.

Re: How to 13.5 Second 305 tpi

You don't need to do anything too radical to accomplish your goal. A set of heads, either reworked stock heads or a set of trickflows, a good tpi cam, such as the comp cam 08-501-8, a set of 22 to 24 lbs injectors and a good tune should get you there. You don't need to go over .5" lift to achieve that. Also 1.94" intake valve is the largest you want to go. Tunning it will be a the key after all this is done.

Cam it, head work, and weight reduction. Or you could just get a basic wet kit and spray 100 to it, it will probably do mid 13's on street tires with that.

At the moment, only Nitro cars are required to run the 1000'. Just to clarify.

Re: How to 13.5 Second 305 tpi

I've been away for a while and I was surprised at how many replies I got. I've never got to take the car out to the track cause I'm always working when there open, so I guess it's running mid 14's. I plan on going this year. I do have a bottle in the basement just not the kit. I'm thinking that I'll do the stock heads and a cam swap I don't really want to throw a lot of money in the motor cause I want to do a 383 or a 406 next summer so all the mods I've been doing were transferable to the next motor. Thanks guys

Dude if you're doing a motor swap then go whole hog on the nitrous. You don't need a fancy kit or anything, just get a basic single nozzle wet kit. I recommend NX, or any other brand that carries a lifetime warranty on their solenoids. Go straight for the 125 jetting and have fun until you do the motor swap. The only other thing I could see you needing right now is a set of sticky tires for the back.

You could also get some slicks and get some light wheels for the track

Re: How to 13.5 Second 305 tpi

I replaced my stock 16X8 Irocs with stock street tires up front and ET Streets in back with a set of Weld drag lites, 15X4 up front 15X10 in the rear with M&H 8.5 slicks. It didn't shave as much ET as I had hoped, as a matter of fact at first my times were identical. These TPI cars seem to have so much torque that they negate the initial mass of a heavy wheel.
