ok, I just build a 406 and I'm trying to work out the bugs.. It ideals ok..alittle up and down but not to bad..also alittle rich...Here's the thing when I take it out for a ride its a total PIG! No power and runs very rough!! I checked timing and fuel pressure and they are pretty close. I have no engine codes coming at all... I just checked out the TPS sensor..I measured resistance in the TPS itself , top to middle of the TPS plug it read 3.010 ohms to 7.27 ohms and the reading were very smooth as they went up...then I checked resistance from the middle to the bottom of the TPS and it read 7.09 to 2.837 ohms going down in resistance very smooth as well....Heres where things get funky I checked voltage on the wires feeding the TPS car off key forward..Between the black(top)wire and the White(bottom) wire im getting " 5.005 VOLTS" Isn't this reading supposed to be .54 VOLTS??? I also checked between the middle blue wire and the bottom white wire and got 4.308 Volts, then I checked between the top Black wire and the middle Blue wire and got .694 Volts... I checked the car battery with the meter to be sure I was on the right scale and 12.84 Volts so I'm using the metter right.... I also checked all the Voltages with the car running and they all stayed the same???? So is it possible to adjust the TPS down to .54 Volts from the 5.005 Volts???? Ive sunk like 6K into this car in the past few months so if you guys think this could be why my car has no power let me know...thanks!!!
yeah test A and B terminals at closed throttle. Black top wire and Blue middle wire. Thats what my 89 has. Bottom is white. Should read .54v with black and blue. If its not the ecm may think its at open throttle and dump extra fuel in when its really not, thus making motor run rich and like a pig. Could be your problem.
Do you have tunerpro RT? hook up to the aldl port and also check TPS voltage on there as well.
thanks guys it was .694 between the black and blue.. I adjusted it to .540..I took it for a ride its def better then it was! It still needs alot of tuning , timing, fuel and computer but I feel like I might be getting some where after adjusting the TPS
