I'm searching for a 5 speed lb9 car but a clean auto popped up and was curious is there a difference in the motor like internally i noticed there was a 35 rated hp difference. was curious to what the difference is? thanks.
In '89 the auto LB9 got the LO3 cam and the manual LB9 had the L98 cam. The dual cats were only available on T-5 equipped LB9's. Then, there's the gear ratios.

1985 IROC-Z, LB9, 700R4, 3.42 -- it's yellow
Not a "peanut cam" in the bunch.
the loss on bmws isnt in the motor its just the transmission difference, alot of wasted energy in the auto transmission vs standard. as far as i know... also gm made the autos for bmw for awhile............ .. .... .............
