Re: lb9 auto and manual motor difference

What year is the car your looking at? The motor difference was usually the cam, but also dual cats boosted power output.

Re: lb9 auto and manual motor difference

Weaker cam and a single cat made the output lower.

Re: lb9 auto and manual motor difference

does the fact thats its an automatic effect it at all. I dont know for camaros but on bimmers the autos put a huge loss on hp.

Re: lb9 auto and manual motor difference

Yeah, most of the auto LB9's are detuned from the manual trans LB9's.

Re: lb9 auto and manual motor difference

In '89 the auto LB9 got the LO3 cam and the manual LB9 had the L98 cam. The dual cats were only available on T-5 equipped LB9's. Then, there's the gear ratios.

Not a "peanut cam" in the bunch.

Re: lb9 auto and manual motor difference

the loss on bmws isnt in the motor its just the transmission difference, alot of wasted energy in the auto transmission vs standard. as far as i know... also gm made the autos for bmw for awhile............ .. .... .............
