i have questions regaurding the swap from a TBI to a TPI what all needs to go with the TPI engine when swapping... i took engine and trans what else needs to go besides fuel lines and wire harness i ran intop a little trouble with sum wiring in under the dash... anyone know if them wires come too???
what wires are you talking about? pics please. and why did you take out the trans? are you swapping the trans too? more information I'll try to let you know what I can help with
you need every wire that come off the tpi including the computer under the dash on the passenger side.
and you really need to read the link in the front of this board where it talks about swaps.
and then use search and read read read.
did you check every wire you have to make sure they are all functioning?
i sure hope you have not bought anything yet.
if you want you should look for people going from tpi to a carb - and buy everything.
when i bought mine i got every possible wire and computer box too.
take a look on my site and you wil see pics of the tpi and all the pieces that should come with it. anything less it asking for trouble.
You'll need the harness, all the relays, the ecm, and a tpi fuel pump, tbi pump won't cut it.
It's also a big help if the donor car and the receiving car are the same year, otherwise you may need to repin some of the harness.

well im swappin the TPI from a 89 Iroc-Z into a 88 sports coupe camaro basically a RS type engine
all you needed was the Tpi intake and wireing harness
the fuel pump will need to be swapped aswell as the tbi pump is only good for 15psi or so and tpi needs more then double that 36psi
the rubber fuel lines are the same you only needed the metal ones connected to the tpi fuel rail
the wiring under the dash that connects to the ecm is the rest of the engine harness so its a mute point
its really a pretty simple swap and the results are great

Yes we already got the wiring under the dash on the passenger side that connects to the ECM. BUT I need to know what has to be done to completely remove the wire harness from the donor car as it looks like a big bundle of wires goes under the dash by the steering wheel and I don't know how to remove it and what all needs to be disconnected.
just take ALL the wiring from the donor car, replace yours with it and it should work as long as they had the same options as yours such as auto, or standard, and manual windows, etc
You don't need to remove anything under the dash, there is a bulkhead connector on the firewall near the brake booster, this interfaces with the fuse panel harness, disconnect the engine harness at that point.
the other end of the harness goes in through the pass side front fender, remove the kickpanel from the inside and you will see it.
