I have already spent 400usd in restoration.
And my heads have never been any good ,some studs are not straight and i have to use different length of the pushrods and lashcaps to get it right.
No more trickflow for me.
AFR 180 or 195?

you need to spend the time on your current heads. if they are tpi heads you are in good shape. get a good machine shop that is used to working on American heads.
you should not have the problems you have unless the machining is bad.
you need stainless steel valves, the correct springs for you cam.
get the studs pulled out and put in screw in studs. they reason they are crooked if because you are pulling them out with springs and a cam that is too much for them.
that can also be the cause of your other problems.
what cam are you running?
He said he has trick flow twisted wedge, I dont know if they are G1 or G2. Might be best if they are really that bad from the description (how's the power output?) to replace them. If you get rid of those, I'd get some AFR 195's. The sportsman II are a big step backwards, you'd either need to run the Pro 1, or some very well ported Brodix Track 1. I'd stick with the AFR's personally.

No way i spend another 400usd or more on those heads.
There was a proffessional machineshop that worked on them and they say that those heads are bad from beginning.
The springs are mached and the car runns good but i dont like the noice of the heads,its sound like it will broke any time.
I am pulling 280rwhp.
I think that a pair of AFR eliminator 195 could add some 20hp?
My stock tpi heads didnt sound like that.
Its very hard to get the twisted valves to center on the roller.

I dont now why some of you like the twisted wedge heads, when they are so much trubble to get match.
I just whant heads that i can trust.
And dont sound like they would brake any minute.
I dont know anyone other than a few that had the twisted wedge G1 (first version) that had anywhere near the issues you've had with yours... and those were all valve guide problems. As far as I know, all their newer stuff is just fine. Do you know if those are the first version of the twisted wedge heads?
Well i dont remember the number of the heads but i can look into that.
The first year ended with that I had to change the crankshaft bearings in the engine and the new crankshaft was completely destroyed by only 1000 km driving because two valve guides were GAPE.
I'm running now with a different shock rods and lachcaps on some, do not want it that way.
I have drilled four bounce, two new valves, four new valve guides, new springs for this year.
Don't mean to step on anyone's toes (or ego), but I wouldn't say 195cc for sure. 195s would work, but I'd just get 180cc RHS heads....Cheaper than Darts and just as good or better. Even 383s with 180s can make over 500 hp (at sea level) with the right combo of parts.
Yes but the volume is better using a 195cc heads......the 180cc have a lot better velocity than the other, Yes 180cc would work great....but I was thinking that 195cc in case future plans include a 383 or something more radicall....I don't think either head will be that far off from one another.....I would personally chose the 195cc...but I agree the 180cc heads will work great....I use 200cc personally...The only thing I don't agree with you on is 180cc on a 383....I would def. not go that route...no questions asked....but everyone has their own ideas and opinions....

Also while either one would work, I would personally go with 195cc.
Also, just to throw my two cents in there on something else...your losing power with you k&n open air element.....someone else (I think 1bad91z) did a dyno compare on stock airbox and open element....made more power with stock airbox due to sucking in of engine heat......I make an aftermarket custom air box that will flow quite a bit more.

Ahhh...OK, you were talking to the sweden dude about the K & N air filters....I don't have an IROC at all, YET, so I don't have any kind of elements to worry about. So, the dude will be happy with either 180s or 195s...I guess that's a good conclusion for him. And.....Right, sometimes there is no respect. It's hard to read TONE here in the forums sometimes. I'm not an arrogant or know it all kinda guy, and I'm sure not many are, but sometimes people get offended and think someone is trying to be a know it all. If someone knows something that will help me, then I am thankful. Usually, the best learning is from people and hands on experience or BOTH.
