question about knock sensor

Im looking into building either a 350 TPI or carb setup from the block up power monster. Im making up the perfect list in my head.. Im wanting to use a noisy gear drive instead of a timing chain. I heard that it would affect the knock sensor if i go with TPI. question is, is it ok it i run a resistor on the knock sensor connector? Its going to go into 2nd gen made b4 the required smog.

Re: question about knock sensor

Well although i suppose you could do that i think you would be much better off losing the chain drive. Reason is the knock sensor isnt an emissions control it preventing engine knocking by detecting it and retarding the timing and as im sure u already know knocking is pretty bad for your motor. Dosnt really make sence to me to get rid of the knock sensor for a chain drive system when you could just use a good quality double roller timing chain and keep the knock sensor. To me the sound just isnt worth it. If you were determined though i cant stop you. You could try running a chain drive and seeing if it causes the knock sensor to trip or you could eliminate the knock sensor and the knock sensor and the ESC module all together with a simple resistor voltage divider and send i believe 8V right to the ECM completely bypassing the system. Im sure you could even have the knock sensor even programmed out although ive never actually heard of that done as people generally speaking want that function working.

Re: question about knock sensor

Well then i guess it doesn't matter then lol. No ECM no need for a knock sensor lol.
