I have read the tech article, searched posts, tried numerous times. I am using a digital multimeter. Can someone tell me where to put the probes(red/black) Hell, I could have the wires plugged into the meter wrong or on the wrong setting. I need to get this done and am not having any luck getting a reading at all. I see how to adjust it, but w/out a reading it would be pointless. Thanks! sorry I am an electrical idiot
the blue and black wires, black being on the end and is ground (easy to find) and the blue is the signal wire, which is the middle terminal. this assuming you have TPI, please update your profile to include the year, make, and model engine of your car as well as fuel induction type, you will get more responses this way, otherwise as far as we know you could have a crappy ford 302 or something :P
I assure you, there is no love for Fords over here. I will update the profile. Thanks. Yes it is a 350 TPI GTA. I will go try this morning again using the wires you said. Posting reply soon.
OK, here is what I did. I put the black probe into the top of the plug and the red probe into the middle of the plug. All of this while the TPS is unplugged from it's jack on the TB. I got a reading of .03. I then put the probes onto the battery to make sure I was on the right setting. I got a reading of 11.98 there. I the had jumpers on the TPS plug and opened the throttle to see where the voltage went. Zero change. Does this mean I need a new TPS or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
OK, so that did the trick. TPS was at .58 now at .54 Still idles like sh#t and wants to stall at stop signs, but it seems to take of much faster and with more torque. Guess it is something else..maybe EGR. Alot of air is being sucked when you open the hood...It is loud!
If the hose coming from the egr is not plugged into anything, could that cause the leak? All the AIR stuff is gone, so there was nowhere to plug that hose.
