Sensor in the head (pass side)

Ive been trying to diagnose my idle/stalling problem, and just thought of something. There is a hole for a sensor to go on my left (edit: Right) head. I found a melter sensor dangling under the car. What sensor should go here, and does it effect idle? Thanks

Re: Sensor in the head (pass side)

I thought that was the sensor in the driver side head? Or does the car have 2?

Re: Sensor in the head (pass side)

The drivers side is the left side. On the right side (pass.) head you have a coolant temp. sensor and below that sensor is your knock sensor.

Re: Sensor in the head (pass side)

I'm sorry. I have the sensor in on the driver side, but the pass side is missing its sensor. So its the coolant temp im missing? I have a temp readout on my gauges...

Re: Sensor in the head (pass side)

The pass side sensor is actually a temp switch that controls operation of the radiator fans. Won't affect idle but should be fixed so that your fans come on with engine temp.

Re: Sensor in the head (pass side)

Rock auto calls it a cooling fan controller. Any auto parts store should have it, just ask for a cooling fan switch. Just curious, but how are you runnung your engine with a hole in the head where this switch goes without spewing coolant all over?

Re: Sensor in the head (pass side)

I'm really not sure, but I'm not.

I know the PO jump wired the fans so they both come on at the same time, but I figure I'll pick up the switch anyway. thanks!
