305 TPI intake to a 350 Motor

just a quick painless question that i think i know the answer to but im not positive. On a 1986 IROC-Z28, what all needs to be done to transfer the 305TPI intake and all and put it in a 350 motor. It should all bolt up and everything correct? the only thing im gonna need to change would be the ecu and thats as simple as putting a 350tpi ECU in its place correct? once again would nething like the fuel pump or fuel rail or nething like that need changed too... if you could lemme know that would be great thanx!

Re: 305 TPI intake to a 350 Motor

deepends on the year of the heads on the motor. newer then 87 heads have different bolt angles for the center intake bolts. the intake can be drilled though if needed. also you don't need a new ecm just a chip for a 350 and you will need new injectors. i tried to use the stock 19 lb injectors of my 305 on my 350 but it would not run right. it would start and run fine but after it warmed up it would not restart. i put 24lb injectors in problem solved. mind you the chip would need to be changed for the injectors too.

Re: 305 TPI intake to a 350 Motor

Yea, if you have the 350 stuff already and are just using the intake set-up...you want the 350 injectors as stated above and the 350 PROM for your motor/car. Did you convert the car from 305 to 350? Or is this just an intake going onto your car that was a 350 to begin with, but the intake you got is from a 305?

Re: 305 TPI intake to a 350 Motor

now i talked to a machine shop around my area and the 350 block that im using was out of a 68 camaro. he told me the flywheel will not match up becuz the 305 is a one piece rear main seal and the one on the 68 350 block is a 2 piece so that would require a new flywheel... tru of false?!

Re: 305 TPI intake to a 350 Motor

So Im not really an expert.
But when I bought my 87 camaro, it had a blown 305.
But then I had my uncle put in a 350.
It took him a little while, but it shouldnt be too difficult?

But it might be different since yours is an 86.

Re: 305 TPI intake to a 350 Motor

Yes you will need a new flywheel for the older block. The best bet for the prom is to burn a custom one. it would be easy enough to burn a base chip for yoour engine that includes just the changes to engine size and injector size. either find someone who can do this or get tye equipment to do it yourself, then head over to the prom section of this board. thats what i did, and I still tweak my setup all hte time. as you get better you can get more advanced setups goin. Like I got the SAUJP bin that some members of this board modde with a lot of extras and now i am tuning it in for my setup.
