TPI swap into 1967 El-Camino

I have been a member for a long time, read alot and learn alot but seldom post. I have used the advice of this site to build a nice 89 RS 305 to 350 TBI swap . I was one of the unlucky ones in Shreveport La. last week with all the storms and floods. I had close to 8 inches of water in my home on Cross Lake and even more in my cars. I have a 1985 Vette with the 350 TPI and 4+3 standard trans. It was a total loss and can't be rebuilt, some new laws to prevent cars like this from being sold. I have a 67 El-Camino with a 283 and powerglide. I would like to swap my corvette drive train and retain the TPI set-up. I have found a pedal set-up at Honest Charlies so any help with the TPI swap would be great.

The Engine Swap forum is for questions about swapping various engines into 3rd gen f-bodies.

I'm moving this to the TPI forum and will leave it up to those moderators if they want to let it live.

Re: TPI swap into 1967 El-Camino

You can reuse the Vette harness without having to buy aftermarket.
If you do buy aftermarket harness .consider upgrading to the 86-89 "165" computer as there is much more support out there for it than the one year only computer fitted to the '85

The 4+3 can easily be converted to operate on a man switch removing the computer control

Just curious how are you going to run a TPI swap without the emissions equipment i.e. ECM, OBD1, vapor recovery, O2 sensor...etc.
I can see deleting the A.I.R. system, but if you're in an area that requires emissions testing it's the newer of the two; car, or engine that determines smog testing which in this case is the TPI.

No emissions testing, am reading all replies. I plan on trying to swap complete drive train including rear end. So any information on all please. Scared to death they will stop this post. So I keep reading and hoping for more information.

Why
3rd Gen is referenced all over the Internet as the BEST TPI info site
Check over on 3rd GEN DFI-ECM or DIY Prom;
there are guys hanging out there with TPI's in everything from Jeeps to pickups ; even FORD's
