Re: how do i jump fuel pump to drain gas tank?
strange thing i put pump hose in gas tank filler neck. tank is empty? can gas evaporate? i put in 10 gallons freash gas. went to start car but did not hear fuel pump and it will only crank and not start.
will jumping the adl work for a 89 l98 car? can someone confirm this. any other way as well. here are some pics of exact parts on my car so i have no chance of messing this up. i would like a test that i can use to get pump working and start the car and run it. that way i know something else is wrong with car and not pump.
is the square box on left the fuel pump relay? that is one i pulled plug out of.

If you use a jumper wire from terminal A to terminal E on the fuel pump relay connector you show in the picture it will bypass the relay and apply voltage to the pump. This will tell you if the pump is bad or the relay is bad.

from left to right as your picture shows its D-E-C-B-A Make sure the fuel pump fuse is good, thats where the power for the E wire comes from. The fuse by your battery is the main power for the computer, it also powers your cigarette lighter as I blew it once when my phone charger shorted out. I had a stuck fuel pump once and put power to the pump this way then hit the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet to free it up enough to get home, where it died for good. You should be able to hear the pump run from the filler inlet if it is capable of working.

Why do you think i told you that?
Maybe I just wanted to waste my time helping you out because I had nothing better to do
and you obviously have no understanding of basis auto electrics
Car has been sitting for 15 years and you are asking that?
Even the coolant could evaporate in that time if the cap was off

Re: how do i jump fuel pump to drain gas tank? now just need a way to test pump plea
i wanted to confirm that that was correct for 89 and the l98 thats all. last thing i wanted to do was zap my computer. and i drive a cement truck im not a mechanic.
i also read that putting power to the aldl willl only work if the relay is working so i wanted to try using the wires at relay as well. this would confirm my pump is bad.
as for the gas in the tank its an honest question. i bought a 81 turbo trans am recaro pace car and it sat covered in a garage for around 20 years. when i took the gas tank off there was gas in the tank.
thank you for your help.

Test power from ALDL terminal to pump goes through the NC contacts (D-A ) of the relay when relay is off
