either just above the oil filter or behind the distributor

behind the distributor, 90-92 its above the oil filter. It's a pain to get to behind the distributor

It's above the oil filter, sticking out of the side of the block

I think the oil pressure sender in near the distributor, but the oil temperature sensor is near the oil filter. Two different senders.

Yeah, the last year the OP sensor was up near the distributor was either '87 or '88. My '89 has is right above the oil filter. BTW, go to your local parts store and buy the special "GM Oil Pressure Sensor" socket. Makes it wayyyy easier to replace it. Normal deep sockets aren't quite deep enough to remove the sensor, and it's a royal PITA to do it with a wrench.

Found this the hard way had to buy a 1 1/16 socket for the sensor.
