Has anyone ever used a Holley Stealth ram on 083 TPI heads?"
I am looking to get a stealth ram for my 1991 Camaro z28 with a all stock l98 cast iron heads. A guy here has Weiand Stealth Ram EFI Intake Manifolds 7540 for sale complete with fural rails and all.
the seller claims he has used a stealth ram on 083 TPI heads and that the slotted center bolt holes fit the later style intake bolt pattern fine, can anyone confirm this?
The guy told me:
"The D shaped runners are only in the middle tunnel ram portion where the lower intake meets the top plenum part, the intake runners are normal sized. Summit lists as 86 on down but I have used this on several sets of 87-92 305 and 350 heads. The reason they don't list it as fitting the 87-92 is due to that 70 vs 90 degree intake bolt issue that is a non-issue as long as you use grade 8 bolts w/ washers. You won't need a tune, a tune would definitely help maximize your power but it won't be mandatory. It would have been mandatory if your car was an 85-88 TPI due to the cold start injector issue.
Because you'll have the adjustable fuel pressure regulator, if you have any lean hesitation issues you can just turn the pressure up until it runs the way you want it. If you end up deciding to stick w/ this setup for the long term, a dyno tune would go a long way in getting the most HP and efficiency because the stock tune was not designed around this intake, or headers, or any of your other add-ons."
Thank you.

You should have posted this question in the Alternative Port injection board, since this one concentrates more on TPI.

Fits fine. As said above. They sell angled/beveled washers for the center bolts to make the bolt head seal flat on the intake but dont need them to work.
Ports are abit bigger than head opening but works. I saw huge gains on stock L98 with supporting mods

so just to confirm the stealth ram intake will work with both the stock TPI heads as well as any other sbc heads (angle washers suggested but not required)? Because I have the stock TPI set up now but am going to do both the heads and intake in the future, but don't have money for the heads yet. Please tell me this will work and I will order it tonight!!!

They are the same. The holley version is now sold as a stand alone kit and wieand is the manifold only. Keep in mind you will also need to order the fuel rail kit and IIRC injectors as well

Check it out yourself visually
Have a better look and work out where the fuel reg on the stock fuel rails would be
if the rails were mounted on a HSR base ?????

Whoever told you that is wrong. There are plenty of HSR installs documented on this site that point that stock fuel rails do not work with this intake

Re: Has anyone ever used a Holley Stealth ram on 083 TPI heads?"
I have an '88 IROC convertible with 5.7 tpi. I've added shorty headers, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, true 2 1/4" dual exhaust, airfoil and 3:73 rear gears. And by the way I checked the injectors and they were 19lb. injectors! It ran a best of 14.38 in 1/4 mile. I've added an hsr with 24lb. ford injectors. I was wondering what it should run in 1/4 mile now??

I checked the spark plugs and they're all tan in color. So I thought they were burning pretty clean. timing is set to 15* and fuel pressure is set at 43 pounds. Can't find anyone in my area to tune it. I'm gonna take it to the drag strip in a couple weeks and see what it will do.

And when you say 'they sell," could you provide a brand or part number? Thanks to this thread ill be able to add another piece of the puzzle to my HSR swap. I have an 89 5.7 tpi so i was worried that it wouldn't fit.
