Give me 1 good reason lol

Ok I don't usually jack with 305's but say I've got a 58K 1991 RS with a 5speed. Give me a reason not to try 175cc TFS heads, a mini-ram and say a XFI 268 or larger on the 305 and then transfer the parts to a 350 or larger later. Of course we're talking good headers/exhaust and probably a 3.73 gear......

Re: Give me 1 good reason lol

Because you would have to build the engine twice. Get a stand, install everything on a nice roller 350 block then drop it in as one unit.

good reason lol I've got stands/cherry pickers etc. I even plan on pulling the 305. Just did a light weight flywheel and new clutch. The car never had A/C so pull the radiator, front cover balancer water pump etc. and slide a camshaft in it. Do the heads, throw away the TBI change intake and wiring harness/computer and fuel pump and of course the correct relays and see what happens? what have I got to loose? I already own the mini-ram and heads, haven't decided on the camshaft......does that change things? Oh and winter project I've got a GMC 4x4 extended cab, a BMW 740 M sport and a SS HHR. I haven't driven a Camaro much in years. (old man) lol

Just looked at your profile. One of my favorite Camaros was a 1985 ho 5 speed IROC.......I did the 350 conversion to that one. It had lots more torque etc then started breaking T5's rear-ends etc. I even put 1 WC T-5 in it. I think I was harder on stuff 25 years ago. Tell what you've done to you T-5 besides being easy on it and a good shifter to get it to live? I've put a T56 in a third-gen and I probably won't again. Too friggin heavy. I'd like to get this car to "fly" weight 2900-3000 pounds then it won't need as much torque etc and will have extensive suspension mods. I only bought it because it was extremely nice, no options a 91 and a T5.

Re: Give me 1 good reason lol

Not much, just a good rebuild with STEEL cluster support plate and pro5.0 shifter. Spec Stage 1 clutch and factory tires. Seems to be holding up no problem.
