Re: Going from 305 to 350 this winter !

Hi all, i havnt updated this thread for a while because ive been having so many problems with the engine, but on sunday we finally got it running smooth.

It turned out the guy that came and adjusted my valves had over tightened them all ! So a friend of mine who really knows his American cars came down and within an hour it was running smooth, idiling nice, sounding great, and i even tried going through the gears.

I havnt road tested it yet as the front end is still apart but im starting to put it all back together now so i can take it for a blast and see what its like

Re: Going from 305 to 350 this winter !

I got a little braver tonight after doing a bit more wiring and tidying things up, i got the car out of the garage and took it around the village, i just took it real slow, and only put my foot down a bit coming past the garage.

It seemed to take a little too long changing from 1st to 2nd gear so maybe its just the cable that needs adjusting ?

But apart from that it felt fine, and really moved when i gave it some gas, so hopefully my good luck will continue with the car now

Lol, those are my aunties trikes, the white one is a Harley Davidson / Panther trike, quite a beast, and there's a black yamaha one parked infront of it

Ah, ok, that makes more sense. It looked like there was one four-wheeler there initially.

You can try the TV cable adjustment..... It will alter shift points... if it is holding the gear too long, even at part throttle, try loosening it up a notch or two, and test again.

Re: Going from 305 to 350 this winter !

Hi all,

I took the car for another quick spin and it is so much quicker than it used to be ! and that issue with it holding onto 1st gear for too long may have just been the fluid, i checked the level after parking it up after the first run and it had gone down a bit, no doubt because i drained it and changed the fluid and filter when it was out along with the engine, and the torque convertor was off too and a lot of fluid came out of that.

Anyway i topped the fluid back up to the correct level and it seemed fine.

Ive started putting the car back together now, me and my dad put the hood back on yesterday, and i fitted my new lifters, its so nice having the hood stay up on its own and not fearing its going to smash down on your head every time its open !

I spent most of Sunday adjusting the hood, latch, headlights etc etc to get it to line back up and its nearly there. Now its just a matter of re-wiring in all the knight rider stuff i took off like the scanner light, my new foglights, the external speaker system

I got the scanner and fogs done last night though

Im hoping to make a local American car cruise on Wednesday night, its on every month and i havnt been once this year with the car being off the road. So fingers crossed i make it, i need to get it on the road to test it
