new fuel injector are leaking out of the fuel rail.
I just got around to installing my new South Bay fuel injectors. All of them when in OK and I felt comfortable when installing them I heard a nice nap which told me they were nice and tight. Got the car all together so I started a small fuel turns out of the last in jectors on the pannanger side was leaking on to my intake manifold. It looks like it was coming from the top of the fuel rail and dripping down causing a puddle of fuel. Maybe i installed it wrong. I know the directions say installing them in the intake manifold first then the fuel rail whicg I did. I'm just going to take the plenum apart again and try reinstalling it. I hope that fixes it. These injectors don't have the clips that hold them in place like the stock injectors do.

Whenever an injector leaks from the rail side, it is either from a bent or torn oring, or the installation. Has nothing to do with the clips, you don't need them, you have over 43lb of pressure holding them down. Check your orings. Make sure you lubricate them when they go into the rail. We always recommend liquid dish soap. Let us know how you make out.

You're welcome. When you re-install them, don't try to push them too deep into the intake because then you are defeating the purpose of the adapter.

You honesty don't need the clips? I'm installing my TPI on a Vortec crate engine and I had three injectors leaking fuel from the rails, then I went and picked up a set of clips for all 8 injectors and didn't have a single leak after that, is that just coincidence maybe?

I'm going to chalk it up to improperly seated o-rings then. I had all of them properly lubricated when I installed them the first time, so I'm going to guess after I pulled them all out to put the clips on that I got them seated correctly that time around. thanks for the reply.

Make sure you install them into the intake manifold first and then the rail. Once again,
if an injector leaks from the rail side it's installation or oring issue. You don't need the clips because there is at least 40lb of pressure pushing down on them and holding them in place.

Re: new fuel injector are leaking out of the fuel rail.
No more fuel leaks and my fuel pressure is fine (42 or so static then 36 when running) problem I'm coming across now is that the car will fire up then dies almost immediately. I replaced the IAC and the TPS checked the MAF sensor plug in and tried all the combinations of unplugging and plugging them I'm and it didn't change. it fires and then dies almost immediately……any ideas?
