TPI intake to block bolts

Does anyone know where I can get a new set of intake to block bolts? Everything I see sold in kits seems to be the bolts for everything on the intake but the intake to block bolts. (runners, tb, brackets etc...) I have mine apart right now and I'm not too keen on putting the old ones back in. The 4 bolts at the corners are longer than the rest and with them being the ones closest to the water jackets...well, they are more heavily corroded. It looks like most SBC kits have all the same length bolts whereas my 91 TPI intake uses longer ones at the corners. Anyone find a vendor that sells these. I've looked on Summit, Jegs, Hawks, TPI parts and probably a few others with no luck.

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

Just go to a hardware store and get hex heads to match the length, use a flat washer under them as well-grade 5 will be fine.

Unless you really want the Torx heads?

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

The intake doesn't bolt to the block. Intake - heads - block. Do you want intake to head bolts? Or Head to block bolts?

Intake... Summit stainless or ARP chromoly. If you are seriously pinching pennies, that should get you started.

ARP head bolts. Or, saving a few dinero, some jen-u-wine Chebby bolts.

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

The factory hex bolts from my TBI intake clear just fine. I do have to place the flange behind the bolts from the top and kinda 'hook' the runners into place, if that makes any sense. Not really any clearance problems just have to know how to slide the runners in.

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

Regular old button head hex recess should work fine for the minimal torque on those bolts - In other words, the hex recess (Allen) is just as suitable as the Torx.

3/8 - 16 x 1.25 inch, I order 100 at a time Stainless Steel Allen socket bolts from Flebay, I use the heck out of them. just cut them to length or use washers (i use washers)

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

Sorry. That's what I meant my block (heads). But yes, there would be clearance issues with the TPI runners using regular old hex head bolts. The factory bolts are kind of a "pan head" design for low clearance. And the torx design allows for you to get in there and tighten them down with a smaller tool since it's going in the bolt instead of around it with a regular socket. Like I said before, the 4 corner bolts are longer too and all of the intake bolt kits I've seen (ARP and such) are all the same length.

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

I know a few of my Torx headed ones stripped the Torx part, and I have at least 3, maybe 4, hex heads I used to replace them...I may have just got lucky and put them in the right spot

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

I replaced all of mine with the Allen Head bolts- no real issue. Regular Hex Head bolts would actually give more clearance than the Allen Heads I used.

Re: TPI intake to block bolts

Stay away from the ones on hawks third gen. They are absolute crap. When trying to torx them, they started stripping. (Not just 1) Ended up replacing them all with hex heads, well so far 8 or 10.
