I have a 91 z with a 5.0 TPI. It has 70k miles. I recently performed a smog delete, EGR delete, added headers with an off road y pipe(no cats), added a shift kit and 373 gears. My question is this, I have not had any check engine light or any known issues. Should I and is this normal? Do I still need to get a chip burned or can I run it the way it is? Thanks in advance.

It would run better with a custom tune, but back in the day all we could do was set base timing and install an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and they ran decent without a chip. If you're not setting an EGR code, it's probably because you haven't met the criteria needed to set the code. I know when I was running the stock chip as long as I was driving around town and only had short highway drives it wouldn't set - the only time it would set was when I ran a number of miles on the highway with the cruise.
