GMHTP magazine is done???

Anyone else a subscriber to GM High Tech Performance magazine? this month i got an issue of Super Chevy (which isn't a bad magazine) instead of GM High Tech Performance with a note saying the magazine is discontinued. I understand the magazine was a small niche little magazine but ive been reading it since 2004 and really never let me down like other magazine have. i usually glance at a Super Chevy, Camaro Performer, HOT ROD, or Popular Hot Rodding. Some issues are great and some have nothing i wanna read about so im bummed out now

Re: GMHTP magazine is done???

I'm going the refund route.

Super Chevy for GMHTP? Pathetic.

Motor Trend for PHR? Just as pathetic.

I have every issue of High Tech/ Gm High Tech from day one when I was in high school.

You know this is all corporate garbage. If you go to the website and read it, it says how it will be incorporated into the other magazine? Yeah, more like same old thing with nothing new.

It is sad, as well as High Performance Pontiac. I guess if you make every magazine an add for companies story by story its all you can to do survive?

In GMHTP was the only magazine where u saw Turbo Buicks, Sy/Ty, Thirdgens and cars folks built without having blank checks and handing the keys to a shop. HPP had the same feel as well(minus restos but your talking 30+ yr old cars too).

I thought it was awesome when they blew stuff up unintended, but you got the truth from them and they fixed it and did it again.

I liked Car Craft in the early 2000s, not so much these days though. I want to see more junkyard, old school tech, not un-obtainable shop built big blocks and big cube LS or crate engines.

My first car was a 86 Buick Regal, the whole time i wished i had a turbo Regal or Grand National. So i dropped a bunch of money in it (stupidly). was gonna make a 406 SBC blown street car. i fixed most of what i could and added headers and true dual exhaust. Found a GN hood and wing, was going to put together a yellow GN look with old school GSX stripes. i love 80's cars i dont know why but GMHTP really showed 80's cars and trucks in the beginning and i loved it

Re: GMHTP magazine is done???

It is really bothering me that GMHTP is done. Even though it was only a few years ago that I found out about it and started subscribing. I loved every page of the ones I got. Super Chevy doesn't compare at all. I called them and asked for a refund.

that's how i feel about it. sure i have a few random copies of Super Chevy laying in my house. one about supercharged small block chevy crate engine from Jegs and another one of a 305 mighty mouse build up, but for the most part its Big blocks or shoebox build ups, sure they are cool and id own one if i had that kind of time and money but i dont even really pay much attention to them.

Re: GMHTP magazine is done???

Magazines cannot cater to guys like me that are on a low budget, scrounge for used cheap parts, fix old components and make things work. They need advertising invoicing, and if they can't get it, they can't print.

If you guys are looking for your third-gen fix, and don't mind seeing 4th- and 5th-gens, Turbo Buicks, GTOs, G8s, Chevy SS', Sy/Tys, LSJ and LNF-powered sport compacts, and late-model boosted Caddys, you should check out www.GM-EFI.com.

Sincerely,

The Former Editor of GMHTP

Re: GMHTP magazine is done???

Thanks, Bandit! We'll bring you videos when we can. Our Video section has a ton of great stuff - third-gen content, too.

It's just a matter of hosting a video that has an equally high level of quality as the rest of the content. We don't want to put together something with a ton of great info and beautiful pictures - with a low-quality YouTube video shot on a camera phone... if that makes sense.

it makes complete sense. i just know that when GMHTP mag did their STI Killer project every issue i had hoped to read on the progress of the project. it was a great start to finish build up, test and comparison against the WRX STI. but then i saw a track video of it and the yellow Camaro (may be was a 1LE Camaro) and i thought wow thats what these projects need more bonus coverage. With car there is only so much a page can really give you, where a video you can hear it and see the movement, the speed. so ill be visiting the website frequently.
