timing suggestions
LB9 1986 trans am...its really almost stock except ignition CAI,airfoil,no muffler(it fell off lol) 3" exhaust.. 160* thermostat. K&N filter...
But since the muffler fell off she runs a bit more richer... Should I start at 8-9* adv?

Re: timing suggestions
I think it has to do something with the muffler falling off.

Yes but she runs rough not like normal and I can smell she runs really rich but its weird.... She smells rich but my AFR short band says its right in stoich just way leaner until she warms up than its in normal range

Re: timing suggestions
I have not yet..it started doing it about a week ago just haven't had time to take her out to my shop.... I was thinking plugs or O2 sensor... It has accel 8mm wires and cap and rotor... It came with the car when I naught her... I'm a msd guy so eventually that will be changed and wanted to change the plugs to Bosch+4 plugs for it.

Rich, but way leaner...stoich...but not......think about things in a logical manner,,,smells rich, then yes it is...regardless of what your gauge says -note to self, may need ne gauge?
"all GM's run rich at start up"
How can I say this so as not to hurt any feelings...

Re: timing suggestions
You don't think that when the muffler fell off that would cause it to run rich.. I say rich because it smells rich.. The guage is brand new auto meter... It just reads leaner at start and runs rough for a couple min. Than smooths out to normal and drives perfect.

Re: timing suggestions
No that won't affect how it burns fuel. Whenever I've had that kind of problem it was usually the plugs fouling until they were warmed up.

Re: timing suggestions
About the only kind I'll use are Bosch platinums but I was in a pinch one night and had to buy some autolight double platinums because I needed a shorter one to clear my headers and they work well. I've had good luck with both seems they don't foul as easy

Re: timing suggestions
Just found out that MSD makes spark plugs so I'm going to give them a try... What is the best gap for these engines?
