Please help with stall question. Need help quick

Would this be streatable? I have a 350 I am building that will be at 10:1 compression with the comp cams xe 268, ported heads, hooker supercomp headers and true duals powered by the computer controlled carb. I was wondering if this converter would work for me. The car will be mostly for streat use. It is a lock up converter so the highway should be fine. I know this is higher than I need, but it is used, and it is a 9 inch converter which I was told would be easier on the drive train. Let me have your opinions. I think it will be either this or an s-10 converter which should work fine, but doesnt have the advantages of an aftermarket converter. Thanks in advance for the help.

Ben

It should be an ok deal...it depends on how good the converter is...if it were a Vig, ACT or Yank, then I would say go ahead, but I don't know how Fairbanks does their clutch engagement...

Example: An ACT converter will flash stall a bit higher, but act like a regular converter until light throttle. If you are sitting at a stoplight, will this converter act like a stock one until you hammer on it? The smaller size will help reduce drivetrain loss (parasitic drag) and will be easier on the trans.

What is the price? Also, is he getting rid of it cause he blew the tranny? Bad idea to get a used converter with tranny bits floating through it.

Momar, Ive heard nothing good about fairbanks stall converters. The speed shop that sold my brother his fairbanks shift improver kit said, third party quote, "Thier shift kits are good but thier converters suck." I wasent impressed with thier shift kit so my opinion of fairbanks in general is .
Where did you find the fairbanks converter? website or something?

He got rid of it for a vig because he said that the stall was high enough he could hardly keep from smoking the tires at wot under 35 mph. He said that at just normal acceleration you dont notice the stall but under medium you notice a slight stall and wot it flashes up pretty high. He said that the new one he got was a vig 2500 but he is running a miniramed with 9# from a paxton and 3.73 gears. I also have not even heard this brand of torque converter really mentioned on this board but have heard of them on camaroz28.com. I will ask him how it does at part throttle compared to his vig.

Thanks

Ben
