GM/Jeep 5-spd?

I have heard about the GM t-5 being weak. But I have also heard about 11 sec. mustangs and jeeps with over 500 lb-ft of torque using the borg warner t-5. What are the major differences and is it possible (actually "economically feasable") to adapt a jeep or even (G0D forbid ) a mustang gearbox to the GM bellhousing?

Why are these able to take abuse and yet a 305 can tear ours apart? I want to keep the 5-spd but I dont want to blow it when I put approx 400hp/380lb-ft in front of it.

ANYBODY???

You can buy a tremec TKO, a transmission originally designed as a bolt in replacement for the mustang t-5, in the GM flavor. The redrill the bellhousing mounts and they install a different input shaft. They also clearance the mounting pad ... all for around 2,000 (about 800 more than the mustang TKO).
