I Need VSS Help Quickly

I just swapped out my 700r4 for a TH350 in my 91 S10 with a 350 TBI. My problem is that, the TH350 has a cable driven speedo, and my ECM needs the electric VSS. Does anyone make a adapter for converting the cable ouput to my electric for the ecm? I guess the ecm needs that input for the engine to run right.

thanks guys

nate

painless wiring makes a vss sensor. Do you need a 4 pulse or a 2 pulse sensor?

How would those work then? where would i plug my 4 prong plug into? I have a electric speedometer and such, and I think my TBI engine uses a 2 pulse sensor.

Those ones from JTR...do i just screw one end into the TH350? or what? I'm really confused here...how would the ecm get the signal?

Are you positive you're VSS connector is 4 prongs?? All TH700 trans I've looked at had a 4-prong TCC (torque converter clutch) connector and a 2-prong VSS connector.

Look at part#5 on the page I sent, I suspect that's the one you want...4 pulse/rotation @ 4000 pulses/mile.

You remove the TH350 trans speedo gear drive, replace with the JTR thingy after swapping in your old driven gear, and plug the 2-prong VSS connector into it. All done.

Alright, i did have a 2 prong VSS deal.

Still confused on the install deal though. All I have to do is remove the cable deal on the TH350 right? I swapped to 3.42 gears so i got a new gear for that. So i install that correct? Then i would install the JTR peice? How exactly does that work?

Follow the speedo cable to the trans. The threaded thingy it screws onto (speedo gear housing) is held into the trans by one bolt and a Y-shaped retainer. Remove the bolt and retainer, the threaded thingy will then come out of the trans. On it is the driven speedo gear, which you'll replace with the new one you bought by installing onto the JTR translator.

You then install the JTR translator into the trans in place of the threaded thingy, reinstall the retainer fork and bolt, and plug in your VSS connector.

There is an o-ring on the speedo gear housing which seals it to the trans case, same for the JTR piece that replaces it.

Thanks so much for your help.

one more question before i order. will that fit in my th350? i don't know if it is the same size, because 700r4's had larger openings if i remember correctly.
