Why is my transmission fluid gray/white?

I just took my t-5 out (trying to figuire out soft pedal) and some parts of the fluid are gray and white. On the tailshaft especially. Any idea why? It's never been like this before.

Water + gear oil = gray/white glop. Moisture intrusion due to bad seals is the most likely cause.

Ok, thanks. That makes sense since it was whitest near the rear seal.
