Will a stock 9 bolt hold up to 475hp/500tq?

LottaBalls and I are planning to build a 383 early next year, with an estimated 475hp an d500 lb/ft of torque at the crank. Do you think that the stock 9 bolt rear end would hold up to the torque? If not, should I get another rear (Ford or something?) or can I beef up the 9 bolt?

when I went asking around about a 9 bolt that I had bought
I was told that

A: its a pice of crap and I was robbed beyond all recognition
and on the other side of the coin

B:it is as strong as a dyna 44, lighter, with a more reliable gear set up.
my info is conflicting so I put off installing the rear end I have. untill someone can prove to me that its good to use on my project.
if you find out anything good pass it along

Who ever told you it was a piece of crap has no understanding of the 9 bolt. I've been running mine for 4+ years now behind my 500hp/520lbft big block with no problems.

In order for any diff unit to hold a lot of power, it must be in good condition, not a bunch of worn out parts!

I have lot's of info (and parts available) at www.9bolt.com

Miles had convinced me earlier to keep my 9-bolt, even though I will be putting it under a lot of stress.

Just wish he would get those dang covers ready!!

Thanks for the info. I love the 9bolt, and didn't want to get rid of it. I will probably put in some new parts, since it has 115,000 miles on it.

whoever said a 9-bolt is a POS are morons...

i've seen them consistantly hold up again 1.5 60'ft times from 500#'s of torque, not once, not twice, for a few seasons of racing...that's why i'm keeping mine

how can you check your nine bolt to find out if your parts are worn out.
for example mine came off the rack at the junk yard
I am told that it came off a t/a.
thats all there is to know about it.
should I just put it on and go?
or is it absolutly nessary to rebuild when it goes under a mostly stock motor and trans.
I know i am a little off topic but I know next to nothing about this rear end. I did however go to the diffsolutions web site
and not to offend anyone but didnt really find much information
other than parts prices and junk.

I keep wearing out the posi in mine, otherwise its held up to my power/torque with no problems.
