Grinding after servo install/fluid change - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

Well i did the fluid change and gasket/filter change today along with my vette servo. Everything went together fine but I have a couple quick questions/problems.

First off, when replacing the fluid, how many quarts should it take. Simply dropped the pan and also the servo. I figured 5-6 and put 5 in, started the car up, ran through the gears and checked it again, seems really high.

ALSO, when I put the car back in park, I got a crazy sounding grind noise from the tranny. I'm wondering what this might possibly be. On the servo I'm almostcertain all the parts went back together correctly because I simply put it all the way it was with the exception of replacing the stock servo piston with the vette servo/piston. the ONLY question I had on this was whether on the outside part, the 6 teeth about 3/8" in length should be pointing towards the servo cap or towarsd the tranny side?

Oh well, If anyone needs a good laugh, this post is for you.

Realized that my back brakes are wearing out and weren't stopping the wheels all the way, so I was throwing it in park with the wheels still spinning. DUH.

Wow, I feel like a retard but ya'll can hopefully get a laugh. Thanks for those who may have had ideas.

Don't feel bad. We had a 4x4 Suburban towed to the dealership. The Customer stated the the tranny just died (quite moving) and started grinding when put back in park. Once it got towed in and looked at it, we saw that the Manual Transfer case got put into Nuetral. Thats why it wouldn't move. The grinding, of course, was the tranny still spinning when put into park. We put the transfer case back in 2 High and let them go.

hell, i was jus thappy that i did it right and did it right the first time. I've been kinda impressing myself by the stuff I've learned to do on my own. Only thing that hasn't been done in my garage is my exhaust welding because I don't own nor do I have any clue how to operate a welder.

I don't do my own exhaust either. Mainly because I don't have a pipe bender at my disposal. I had the pleasure of driving across town in my 357ci, TFS Twisted Wedge Head, ZZ4 cammed, open headered T/A to get to the exhaust shop. My car sounded like it was just plucked from a dirt track
