Best mods for 700R4 in L98 car...converter,shift kit,etc??

I'm looking up some info for my friend. He has a 1990 IROC L98 with ported heads, SLP cam, and Dynomax catback so far. He has some bugs to owrk out and hopefully I'll talk him into headers. y-pipe, and etc. What are the best mods to do to the 700R4 in his car? Right now it has about 90,000 miles I thin os it could use a freshening too I bet. Tell me best thins to do..like converter, best shift kit, rebuild kit, etc. Thanks!

The Trans-Go shift kit is widely accepted as the best and "most correct" shift kit to install, from what I've read time and time again on these boards.

Is there anything wrong with his current tranny?

Converter couldn't hurt, I got a remanufactured one for $95, but if it ain't broke....

Trans Go makes one of the better ones for Mustangs also. No, I'm pretty sure his converter is fine, just thought maybe going t oa higher stall would help him out some. He wants to get it in the 13's one way or another.

he can go with a factory corvette stall convertor....that is around 2200 stall speed and would compliment his mods rather nicely. I am running a similar converter in my camaro this year.

slp 2400 stall converter
transgo shift kit
billet servo (jet)

that will wake his tranny up a whole alot. good enough for 13's

That's kind of like saying don't install headers because the stock manifolds don't leak. A high stall convertor is one of the best mods I have done.
