v6 vs v8 700r4 tranny??

Hey guys.. friend of mine asked me to ask... Im not sure .. trannys arent my thing...

Will a 700r4 hooked to a v6 hook up to a v8 alright?

no and yes



a V6 from a thirdgen camaro (2.8 or 3.1 both 60* blocks) will not

a 4.3 V6 found in trucks and mid 80's cars yes (because its the same bolt pattern as a SBC)

It would be eaister to find a V-8 tranny. I don't even know of an adapter plate but then you would need to get a different driveshaft and torque arm so stick with a V-8 tranny if your going to have a V-8.

the v6 700r4 in the thirdgens also has fewer clutches then the v8 version. if u adapted it to fit, it probably wouldnt last longer with the extra load you put on it from the v8.
