| Drive gear clip My speedo went out and I pulled the VSS off to see if the driven gear was chipped. It's fine. I stuck my finger in the hole to see if the drive gear was chipped, and-- doh, nothing there! I felt around a bit more and found the gear had walked a long way to the rear towards the driveshaft, and the clip was laying on the "floor" at the bottom of the housing.
The tranny was just rebuilt, I'm assuming that the clip wasn't put in firmly enough. Can I reuse it and the drive gear, or should I buy a new clip/gear combo before I go through the trouble of taking the tailshaft off? There doesn't appear to be any damage to the clip itself and I found no chunks of plastic in my search. | | |
