I have had two 85's and it breaks down like this
First one lg4
9-bolt 3.08

Second one lb9
9-bolt
3.45

posi
I don't know if that helps any but that is my experience

all 305's with automaics had 10 bolt rears. 99.9% sure of this. u can find out if u have posi by going out and smoking them off obviously. lol MOST 305autos have 2.73's. alot of them being posi.

thanks guys I bought the car for $300 needs head gasket and tune up so that I can turn around and sell after I fix it

I already went and tried to smokem off but motor is so out of tune it was tuff when it finally broke loose it spun the left rear(driver side) which I though was weird because my car spins the right rear

so i then thought worn out posi and was just wondering what gears so i could fix the worn out posi and swap in to my car

do the posi tracks in these cars tipically wear out and then smoke the left tire?

I did a vin number check and I is supposed to have 3.23 gears but I was asking just to make sure

again thanks for the responces
