Different GM part numbers on LS1 shaft

I was doing a little research tonight on LS1 drive shafts. I found two diffrent part numbers for the 98-2003 F-cars. 12564004 is the general aluminum shaft number. 12559525 is lists as performance/race shaft. I also have found that some LS1 shafts have a three rivers sticker number of 12564003. Can anyone tell me the differences in these numbers. Maybe one is discontinued?? HELP!!

The 12559525 is the 95-97 1LE shaft. It's a 2.75" shaft. The others are 3". The 12564003 was an earlier LS1 shaft. If I remember correctly, there were some that preceeded it, but were discontinued. Somewhere in 2001 and thru 2002, the 12564004 replaced it and became the warranty replacement shaft due to better balance. It doesn't vibrate as much at higher speeds like the previous LS1 shafts. People on ebay are notorious for passing off the earlier model shafts. All of the LS1 shafts have a three rivers sticker IIRC. But the 4004 is the one to get.
My 2001 WS6 had the 4004, and it never vibrated on my few insane speed runs.

Sorry to bring this old post up.

My friend gave me an 1LE Aluminum shaft a few months ago and I thought maybe it was vibrating. SO I asked if he could let me have the other one he had to replace it. He gave me a 12564004 shaft that does have the 3 rivers sticker on it.

So what I have now is a LS1 aluminum driveshaft. I was reading in the earlier post that this was a warranty item. If I was to take it to a GM dealer and say that its vibrating, would they give me a brand spankin new one. I dont know if this LS1 Shafts does vibrate but if I could get a new one in exchange that would be GREAT!

Just to clarify, the "race" shaft, part #12559525, has been discontinued.
