What gears & few questions?
Ok I just got the slp $99 dollar limit slip today, and now need the ring and pinion. Its a 92 Lo3 auto and its mainly gonna be a street car with maybe 1 or 2 trips to the track. Im thinkin 3.73's since I plan on doing an engine swap later on. My first question is are the GM ring and pinion gears good or should I get something else, I dont want to spend a lot on gears something around 200ish. Next is what kind of gear fluid should I use with the zexel-torsen any particular brand or somekind of synthetic gear oil I should get? Are the speedo gears avalible at the chevy dealership or where else can I get em(slp has em), and is there anything else I should get at the parts store while im there? Im prob not gonna do the swap but I was told on another forum that I should ask the guy to write down the backlash and pinion dept, anything else I should ask?

If you are keeping the 305 you can't go wrong with 3.42's. If you are swapping it out for a high reving beast than you may be better off with 3.73's. I would just buy a nice set of used GM gears. They won't whine or break the bank. No point in getting really strong gears when the rear is the wekeast point to begin with. Just stick with the posi lube that GM recomends. I got a used 3.42 ring and pinion set from a low mileage 97 SS for $100 bucks. You can also get speedo gears from GM for a 3.42 gear swap since they came in 3rd gens with both the T5 and autp trannies. I am not sure about a true speedo gear for 3.73's.

I plan on getting either a 383 or 350 withen the next year or so (my Dads house warming gift is one of the engines in the garage) so prob better off getting the 3.73's, if so are the gm gears gonna be abile to hold the power of the bigger engine just fine?
