Car: 89 Firebird Engine: 305 Transmission: T5 | Got a hole in the trans cooler line... Got to work and noticed a very light bit of smoke coming from under the hood.. Opened it up and saw one hell of a mess, trans fluid on the whole passenger side of the engine bay, looked a little closer and saw it was misting out from between the engine and the k-member. After letting it cool I got under there and cut out that section of the tube and replaced with some rubber hose, I belive it was hydraulic line, it held up to 150psi with hose clamps on it so I figure it should hold up for a little while.
I still can't belive how much of a mess it made, from the battery to the fire wall on the passenger side, and under the car from a-arm to the rear of the floor pan. Got all burned and sticky on the cat and exhaust pipes too. 1 hour to fix it and 4 to clean... its been a fun day.. | | | |
