700R4 Govenor Function

I'm planning to modify the trans govenor so that at WOT it upshifts at about 5500 rpm instead of 4500rpm. This should help me to take greater advantage of my LT1 cam without having to shift it manually.

Will this adjustment also force the trans to downshift to first gear at higher rpms than it does currently?

I ask because since I went from 2.73 to 3.73 gears it doesn't shift all the way down to first from third at about 45 mph like it used to.

Do you guys know what I mean? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

So no one knows the answer. After I do it I'll let you know.

Has anyone who went from 2.73 to 3.72 lost their 3 - 1 auto downshift shift when flooring it at 45 - 50 mph or so?

Just my opinion but, why would you want to hit first gear at 50 with 3:73 gears and a 700R4? That would like immediately REDLINE!
I installed a B&M Transpak on mine, yes I can do that but I wouldn't, 40 mph is the max I will drop it into 1st gear.

Maybee I estimated the speed a little too high but there are times when it only shifts down to second and it's so low in the power band that it doesn't accel. as hard as it would in first. At that speed it would hit first gear at about 3500 rpm where it makes more torque and still has another 2000 rpms before I really need to shift.

The engine doesn't run out of breath at 5500 but if it revs much more than 6000 the valves will start to float a little.
