WC T5 vs NWC T5

hey guys i have a standard 1986 T5 that i rebuilt a while ago, well something is wrong with the 2nd gear synchro as it pops out of gear sometimes, question did the world class have better synchros? would it be worth me looking for a world class or rebuild this one, as it is in good working order aside from the new 2nd gear pop out

Sort of. The main difference was a move to tapered roller bearings from non-tapered units. Though Borg/Warner didn't up the torque handling figure they really should have, because the WC bearings are a lot stronger. The WC T5s also have synchros lined with carbon to smooth engagement. Later WC T5s had better 2nd and 3rd gears too (stronger alloy & different helix angle).
