Shift linkage retainer clip.

Does anyone know where to get a replacement clip for the trans cable retainer. (700r4)

This is the clip that holds the shift cable to the trans.

A friend needs a new one for his 1984 T/A. It became brittle and cracked (and the trans cable fell off the trans, leaving it stuck in gear).

Thanks for any help.

There's a clip there? Everything should be bolted.

The cable is actually held to the shift lever on the transmission case by a nut. He might be referring to the bracket on the tranny case that holds the cable or the plastic piece on the cable that holds it to the bracket.

The bracket on the case is mounted by two of the pan bolts. Anything plastic down there that would get brittle and break is part of the cable and is replaced as an assembly.

Yes, it is the piece on the end of the cable.

So it looks like the cable will have to be replaced.

Thanks.
