Leaking 700R4

I have a 1987 Z28 with a new reman 700R4 tranny. After the shop that put the trans in returned it to me it was leaking. I took it back to them and they found a cracked housing on the TV cable that was causing the leak. After picking it up and letting it sit for a week, there was another puddle of trans fluid under the car. When I checked the fluid it was up to the full mark after the car warmed up. I took the car back to the shop a second time and left it there for a week. They put it on the lift and said that they couldn't find a leak. The mechanic said he put more fluid in it because it was just below the full mark on the dip stick.

I got it back home last night and this morning there was another puddle of trans fluid under the car, but the fluid was up to the full mark on the dip stick. Is there any kind of vent hole that will leak oil out on a 700R4 if it is over filled?

That stinks! but it could be leaking from anywhere. Have you had a chance to crawl under there and see about where it might be coming from?

I haven't had time to get under there yet. I think there is a vent hole somewhere that oil will leak out of if the trans is over filled but I am not sure. The level doesn't seem to be moving off the full mark when the car is warm though . I am going to try and get under there this weekend and check it out.

Yeah, I hope that's where it is coming from and it is as simple as an over filled transmission. Thanks for the help.

The leak is centered directly under the middle of the pan, but it is not leaking from the pan.

Do this. take your flywheel cover off and see if anything is leaking from the seal were the torque converter goes into the tranny or from the outer pump seal.

That's what I planned to do this weekend. Hopefully it is nothing major.

Is the tranny clean or dirty. If it's dirty and you still can't find the leak the 2nd time under there clean it real good with some brake clean and run the car for a day or 2 and check for a leak again

The tranny is a new reman so it is still pretty clean. Thanks for the advice, I'll try that this weekend.
