V8 vs V6 Manual Transmission

Are the 5 speed manual transmissions the same for the 305ci and the 2.8 engines? What are the differences (if any) and how can you identify them visually?

Pull the #'s off the trans and run em through the search function. Someone made a great post with all the T5 serial #'s, gives you alot of info. To identify the difference on the spot, count the splines of the input shaft. I think the v6 one is 14 spline while the v8 one is 26 (be sure to verify that). The other main difference is the internal gearing. The T5's from v6's will not bolt up to v8's, but you can make them work with some mods (V8 bellhousing, special 10.5" 14 spline clutch). I had intended to do this but the cost of a v8 T5 from the yard was cheaper then the special clutch needed to make the v6 T5 work with a v8, so I just got the v8 T5 instead. I plan to send this v6 T5 to G-Force and get it built for drifting.
