1989 V6 2.8L MPFI. Auto. Just about every time I'm driving, if I hit the gas with any kind of authority, I get this loud thump from under the shifter hump. Its a little further back, like under the armrest even. Its fine till I stop again, then it happens as soon as I give it even a little bit of gas. I can hit the gas so it doesn't happen, incredibly gently, but the cars behind are pissed off then LOL.
Always happened like that in this car (had it for 4 years now). The severity of the thump, (which can be felt, and heard), is directly proportional to how hard I hit the gas.
Any clues? Is my tranny jumping around down there?
i had that same problem all summer and we couldnt find the problem until i went to the place where i got my exhaust done and the guy showed my it was the trans mount i should have thought so because there were pices of it hanging under the car. btw my replacement part was only like $6.50 but now it drives like a compleatly diffrent car
