Can warm weather really effect tire traction as much as people say? The reason I ask is because my car is having a hard time doing the tradmark 1st to 2nd shift chirp when I get on it fairly hard, which it would seem to do no problem before. It has been hot out recently since I started noticing it, and I'm hoping thats all it is. Just the tires hooking up better since they would be softer because of the heat. They are new tires too(BF Goodrich Radial TA) The car still pulls real strong and shifts good and hard. I also recently changed the tranny fluid which wasnt real bad to begin with. What do you guys think?

i got: 84 camaro HO, 700r4 auto, 85k original miles. new plugs wires, cap/rotor. Runs good and strong.

Mines been doing that so just for safety I took it to my tranny guy. he adjusted teh TV cable about two clicks back into the housing, just becaue i liek the harder shifts and it firmed everything up. But for your answer he said everythign was fine, adn not to worry. I think two things are happening; 1. Stickier tires, and 2. Hotter tranny temps means more viscous fluid and less pressure, not much but you'll feel it some. Anyway, I don't think it's something to worry about but thats just me, adn i border on extreme paranoia when it comes to my car adn something changing.

hey thanks. i thought this thread was dead! i'm guessing it is ok to adjust the TV cable in small amounts since a transmission guy did it? i read somewhere that it shouldt really be adjusted, just 'set' to GM standards. please correct me if i'm wrong, cause i may like to do that sometime.

If you choose to adjust it, number one it may act differnetly on your car than mine, but never do more than a click or two. To firm shifts up, put it back into the housing, as in toward the rear of the engine. To lighten then pull towards the front of the car, or out of the housing. Just double check your fluid constantly smell for scorched materials, blackend fluid etc. Adn if you have any doubts take it to a professional.

Warm weather makes the tires hook better but makes less hp. Cold temps make more hp but tires do not hook as well. My street prepped with a couple of barrels of VHT around mid october would be perfect. Dammed if I can get the town councel to do it tho.
