TH350 noise...

I have a TH350, and it is making a noise. When the engine is cold, it does not make a noise. When the engine is warm, and I put it in drive or reverse, it makes a supercharger like whine, up until about 2000 rpm, then it stops. Before you say it is the pump, I will tell you that I just put in a 4200 stall converter and before that, it didn't make a noise. Also, in the process, I half kinked a trans cooler line. Is this noise related to the trans cooler line, or did I mess up the pump putting in the new converter? Or possably something else? I have driven the car this way for some time and there are no shavings or anything in the trans.

I read this on a website on converter intallation instructions...

"The 2nd most common complaint on converters is a whine after installation. This usually means there's too much clearance between converter pads and flex plate.(Washers needed between flexplate and converter) This draws the converter hub too far out of the pump drive gear causing the gear to rock.
"

Has anyone experienced this?

if the gear is rocking in the pump, you have too much clearance already, which means the pump will not last long.

Maybe I'll throw a few washers on the flexplate and see if it helps. Funny, it wasnt doing this before...

Threw washers on the flexplate to space.... made noise worse. Diagnosed as bad torque converter.....
