83 T/A Automatic Shifter Broke

The automatic shifter on my 83 T/A came apart yesterday. The stick came right up out of the console. I droped it back into the hole and continued to drive. I definatley need to change it though. It apears simple enough to replace, but can anyone tell me the interchangability of the T/A shifters. I am going hunting this weekend at one of the local yards. I know where an 85 T/A T handle shifter is. Is the only difference in the later ones the T handle? Thank you for any tips on this one, The Piston Dude.

It is possible, but you will have to make slight modifications to retro fit the 83

Thank You

thank you Mitre 136. I will probably look for the early knob style shifter that is in my car, although I do like the T handle. Would you know which mods are needed for the T handle shifter?

Don't be fooled by the nature of the web page (knight rider conversion) this page outlines how to retro fit a t-handle to knob shift, it is feesable that going from a knob to a t-handle requires the reversal of the procedure, here is the link: How to Install the Round Gear Shifter
