what is the difference between the "single disc" "3-disc" and "5-disc" besides the prices. any benefits from getting more disc's?

The multiple disc converters are designed to withstand converter lockup at WOT behind a powerful engine. Real popular with the turbo Buick crowd. My car ran slower in the 1/4 when locking up the converter in 3rd gear so I disabled it in the PROM. I suspect you need to be putting out a lot of power to make a multiple disc converter truly worthwhile.
