That should be pretty sick when you get her all together. Keep us posted on putting the pedals in, Hydraulics, And the shifter. I'm looking at doing a manual trans swap myself. Good luck!

Ive been thinking about doing the same swap. But I was going to use a stock bellhousing. I have a blown up 700r4 and been debating between a Probuilt or a TKO 600 manual swap. Definetly keep us posted on the progress

Were you able to get the trans out??Yesterday I ordered a TKO 600 I can't wait to get it so I could start the swap too. I've had many manual cars but never a V8 car with a manual so this is going to be pretty cool. Good luck with the rest of the swap.

i bought it from fortes (well actually 5speedtransmissions.com, but it came from fortes) and you can buy just the transmission if you want, which is only the transmission, or you can purchase the whole kit. i bought the whole kit since i swapped from an auto to the manual...or you can just pick and choose the parts you want and get the other ones wherever you want or what not. Great deal and great service! highly recommended! what are you looking to get?

im looking to get a tko 600 i just want to make sure that i can get everything i need and tech help if needed for my t-5 to tko 600 swap in one place. i have heard of fortes having good service and i think i might go with them or 5speedtransmission.

well let me tell you that fortes is the distributor for 5speedtransmission.com, if you order from them you get your stuff from fortes...might as well order from fortes themselves...delete the middle man you know? i ordered from 5speedtransmissions.com and it all came from fortes, so yah! ahaha!

I'm thinking of using a Lakewood bellhousing instead of the stock one cause the one I won on ebay has screwed up threads. Was it hard to set up the Lakewood bellhousing? Do you think you'll have any ground clearance problems with bellhousing. I'm running sportline springs so I'm alittle concerned about that.

Thanks
Frank

Which one did you use? The one with the clutch kit or the one that came with the transmission. My pilot doesn't fit over the inputshaft, is about .07" too small. It fits over the T5's just like it should though, and the clutch disk fits fine on either transmission.

the one that came with the clutch kit...if it doesnt fit for yours then i dont know what to tell you...you may have to call wherever you got the clutch from and ask them. sorry! plus on my reciept it doesnt give me a part number or anything for the pilot bearing!

I think there's something wrong with my input shaft, I've tried all the standard GM pilot bearings and none of them fit over the input shaft.

well, maybe you should call fortes or wherever you got the tranny from and ask what pilot bearing you should use...and then think about your input shaft. at any rate! good luck!

Just got off the phone with Mike Fortes. Says that the input shaft is larger and does require the use of a larger pilot bearing that should have been included in my box with the transmission. So I'm curious as to which clutch kit you bought and was able to use the pilot bearing as it seems it's not a standard GM size, which I believe is 1.094 O.D / 0.593 I.D. for bushings and 1.094 O.D. / 0.645 I.D. for needle bearings. The above measurements was as close as I could get with an ok pair of dial calipers, so they could be a few thousandths of an inch off.

Yeah I know

I just don't want the pilot bearing to get here Wednesday or Thursday and have it really be an input shaft issue. My car has been up on stands for over a week.

The car hadn't been driven in over 5 years until a few months ago, and I got 30miles out of the T5, to the exhaust shop, and home from the exhaust shop, barely. So been sitting again for about a month since then, just keeps dragging out on me.

You're right, it does sit in there real nice. Got it in tonight after work, need some odds and ends bolts to get crossmember up but should be good to go after that.
