Removing 700R4 transmission after engine removal

Hi all,

I've searched the site but I've not really found what I'm looking for.

I've removed my engine and begun stripping it down, but I've now decided I'd like to remove the transmission also, because I'm thinking of refreshing the bands etc to help it cope with the mild power increase I'm due for. I'm presuming I can disconnect the engine from the prop shaft and other connections and then pull it forward and lift it out the engine bay. Is that correct? How would I go about doing this? Would it be the same procedure as if the engine was still there, so disconnect the prop and mounting, and out she comes?

Obviously I can put the engine and box in together...does anyone have any pictures of the underside connections I will need to attack? Thanks in advance!

-Si

it's going to be easier to get it out from the bottom than from the open engine bay.

I agree 100%. Un bolt thr crossmember under the tranny, and un bolt the bracket on the tail shaft for the exhaust and torque arm. Drop the tranny down on a jack(put a flat peice of wood under the pan like a 2x12!!!) and remove the drive shaft. Be sure to get all the connections off too. Should be 1-2 sensors from the harness, and shift cable. You have the hard part done, ... the engine!

It gets very easy once the engine is removed. You should have no trouble. Use a solid jack though. Trans +converter+ fluid= about 175 pounds.
