Hello,
My car had been leaking tranny fluid for some time. It looked like it was leaking from the pan so I finally got around to changing the gasket. It was a PITA and I made a huge mess, and it was still leaking, from the same exact location. I figured I overtightened the bolts and destroyed the cork gasket. So I got a neoprene gasket and replaced the gasket again. I was much more efficient this time. Well it was still leaking from the same place. I was frustrated to say the least. So I cleaned up the area with some brake cleaner and I noticed the oil was dripping down from above the gasket. I couldn't believe it was never the gasket at all.
Anyways I saw where it's leaking from but I'm not sure what it is and how to fix it.
It's located in the middle of the pan on the passenger side. It starts off as a thick rubber part and quickly narrows down to a cable that runs up into the engine compartment.
I think it's the throttle valve cable but I wanted to be sure. Looks like it's held on with just one bolt.
Is there anything I should do before I remove that bolt, is it just an o-ring seal, if it is the TV cable do I have to make any adjustments after I've messed with it?
Any info will be appreciated.

It's the TV cable. It's held on with one bolt, but the cable has to be disconnected from the linkage inside the transmission to change the seal.

Do I have to adjust or remove the cable of the engine side, or will I be able to get it off from the transmission side only?

To replace the seal you'll only need to disconnect the transmission end. Adjusting it is done at the engine side, and it's about a 5 second procedure.

Well I took the pan off and disconnected the cable...
Here is the culprit

It's a rubber plug type of thing.
Anyone know what it's called? Also is this something I can pick up at any autoparts store?

Throttle valve cable seal, should be P/N 25518260 at your neighborhood GM dealer parts counter.
