NEW 700 and wont shift...

1st gears is fine, it just winds out because 2nd doesnt try to engage... 2nd will engage if coasting but doesnt 'pull'. and with enough throttle kicks down to 1st... i bought a new warrantied, dynotested tranny and tc from a company called 'accurate'. i installed b&m's street shift kit, following the directions to a T. i would be amazed if a check ball is out of place or missing. what you think?

Have you checked the TV cable adjustment! If its not right it will affect your shifting as well?

we adjusted it at the tb. and i didnt see how it could be adjusted at the tv in the tranny. it looked like there was only one way to hook it up.
should the lever be touching the valve, or should it be no where near touching the valve w/ no throttle?

i just pulled the valve body off of my old tranny to get some extra check ***** and found something that confused me. last nite while installing the shift kit, the diagram had arrows to all the check ***** and stated to replace or do not replace. however over towards the auxilary valve body there was a picture of a little cup and an arrow but it had no description whether a ball needed to be there or not. we didnt install one there, however theres one in place on my old tranny. i havent found a tech/troubleshoot site for b&m, i may need to call them tomorrow but i need to make progress today. any help?

The aux valve body needs a checkball. That is true with or without a shift kit.

Thanks Floor guy. I tore into it for the fourth time to check whatever i could. the second time i was in the valve body, there wasnt a check ball in the designated spot under the auxilary valve body (different from the 'cup'), i think my buddy was responsible for that one. Anyway all ***** are in place the third and fourth time i checked and TV cable was hooked up correctly.

Theres got to be something we're missing. We trailered it into Aamco this morning and told them my story. Should find something out today. Im never eager to pay someone to fix anything of mine, so this isnt pleasant but im tired of lots of work and no progress. BTW Aamco said the 'cup' pressed into the case with the ball inside has to do with reverse... and if the tranny didnt come with it and reverse works, then i dont need it.

The check ball that is in the capsule in the case is for reverse. Some builder pop the ball out, but leave the empty capsule there. Either way, it will work. The checkball I was referring to fits in the aux valve body before you bolt it up. It goes in the hole next to the small cup with the tiny hole in it.
Be sure to post the results from the shop.

ya know i had almost the same problem but mine was with a 350 turbo transmission. I found out later that when i installed the components in the valve body that one of the small springs on the 2-3 peice was missing and thus wouldnt shift into 3 and it was a wierd shift into 2nd. i would maybe reccomend if the trans is out to check all your adjustments you made with the shift kit.
